The Dawn in Me (with Audio File)

I sit alone after dawn and hear the bursting surrounding me.
My eyes are closed, my soul has no barrier.

There, a dove, cooing for her partnered one,
Nearer, the wasp rasps and tests for the new home,
Further, ole Sol, forcing renewed life on earth to grow, first green then in colors,
Tulips, pears, daffodils, grass, burst forth in belabored grace.

Whilst my mind slips in time, forgetting the bills and frenetic pace of man,
I smell rebirth, I hear old sounds, I rejoice in the nearing of spring

How can you not believe in God when the symphony of new life surrounds you, in sound, in smell, in hope renewed? How can you not wish for another day when this one astounds you?
